WHY ARE OUR JEWELS MORE DURABLE OVER TIME?
Together with my manufacturers, we have developed a process that guarantees a high-quality gold plating (almost twice as thick as standard plating). Unlike others, our gold plating will not turn pink.
Moreover, to protect and preserve the brilliance of the jewelry, an Italian patented colorless finishing layer is applied, maintaining its beauty over time.
Let me explain everything!
Mayrena Gold Plating
- a flawlessly polished brass base for better adhesion
- a bronze underlayer (prevents color change)
- a thicker 18-carat gold plating (5 microns instead of 3)
- a patented transparent protection layer
Mayrena Sterling Silver
- a base made of 925 recycled sterling silver with a mirror-polished finish
- a patented transparent protection that prevents oxidation without coating the silver with palladium or rhodium
WHY DO SOME JEWELS CHANGE COLOR?
Traditional Vermeil: Its Weaknesses
Over time, its color changes because:
- the silver underlayer eventually appears due to friction,
- the silver base shows scratches more easily than brass,
- there is no transparent protection to preserve it.
Classic Gold Plating: The Flaws of a Thin Layer
Over time, its color changes because:
- the pink copper underlayer eventually appears due to friction,
- the 18-carat gold plating is only 3 microns thick,
- there is no transparent protection to preserve it.
At Mayrena Paris, our clients love beautiful things — especially when they last.
That’s why we worked hard to create an 18-carat gold plating that stands the test of time. No jewelry that turns pink — only well-designed pieces!
In short, jewelry made to stay with you for years.
